Here’s your guide to check PNR Status (Passenger reservation Enquiry) for Indian railways. PNR Status can be checked on Indian Railways websites between 04:00 and 23:00.
To check the current PNR status, visit http://www.indianrail.gov.in/pnr_Enq.html
Enter the 10-digit number that can be found in your Internet train booking via or top left corner of the train ticket purchased through the counter and click on “Get Status” button.
You can use the Indian Railway Government page to get your reservation status for tickets booked on the following train networks:
- Central Railway
- East Coast Railway
- East Central Railway
- Eastern Railway
- North Central Railway
- North Eastern Railway
- North East Frontier Railway
- Northern Railway
- North Western Railway
- South Central Railway
- South East Central Railway
- South Eastern Railway
- Southern Railway

If you are away and have no access to Internet, you can now get the status by SMS too.

You will get a reply with the current status of your booking.
WL – Waiting List
RAC – Reservation Against Cancellation (Guarantees a seat and not a berth).
Toll Free Number
IRCTC has now started a Toll Free number. Dial 139 from your mobile or landline to get the status.
